POV: Third person
Summary:
  • Opens with celebrations taking place as Krishna and Rukmini's son, Pradyumna has come back after defeating Vajranbha
  • The next day, Krishna and fam set out for Raivataka, and his granddaughter Bhanumati and her friend are up to some fun; they sneak off to play where Bhanumati accidentally bumps into a bad-tempered sage who curses her for "being bad-mannered"; he tells her she will be kidnapped by her "traditional foes"; once a curse has been uttered it can't be taken back; they tell no one what happened.
  • Years pass by and Bhanumati turns into a beautiful maiden and it is soon time for her to be married
  • One day, Krishna and most of the 'warriors' leave Dwarka for a 'pleasure cruise' and leave the city unguarded; Vajranbha's brother, Nikumbha sees this as an opportunity to take revenge; he kidnaps Bhanumati from Dwarka and flies away with her, turning invisible to get away
  • Krishna is alerted and he takes Arjuna and his son with him to get Bhanumati back; they catch up to Nikumbha by Gadura, the great eagle's, wings; Nikumbha who underestimates the time they would take to catch up is suprised by the sudden onslaught and changes into a golden bird to ly swiftly away
  • Pradyumna has a special power to reveal the invisible, and after some struggle, they are able to get back Bhanumati; Nikumbha runs into his kingdom, and essentially 'locks the door'; they taunt him to come out
  • After a short battle in which all three men and Nikumbha turn into multiple versions of themelves, Krishna slays Shatpura with his divine powers and discus.
  • These people are worried about Bhanumati's reputation (has anyone asked her if she ok?) but as they are reassured that this was the sage' doing and it had to come to play; he also promised she would find a hubby and be a good 'housewife' and so this come to play too; she is married to one of the Pandavas, the twin Sahadeva.
