Week 8: Comments and Feedback
Feedback in...
I think there have been some genuinely nice comments left on my blog so far, as well as very helpful feedback. I find the feedback that include suggestions and questions especially useful, such as when people have suggested I use spaces between paragraphs when telling my stories which I have actually begun to do because I think it does read better overall. I especially enjoy when people leave comments where they relate what I've read to their own experiences, or their own interpretations of the readings, because it helps me get to know others in the class as well as help stir more ideas for future work.
Feedback out...
I have really been using the WWW strategy for most of my feedback, and I especially think about it while I'm reading as well. I try to also take note of certain things while I read it, and then when I read the author's note, I try to compare and see if I've understood what they were trying to convey. I find this particularly useful for when they have written something that I find confusing or I could possibly suggest a way that could help the reader understand better. I definitely think that trying on new styles with my writing has been inspired by other's writing in the class. My first few stories were just that: straight forward re-written stories. However, I tried experimenting with script and letter writing after I saw some other blogs where people shaped the readings we've done to modern times or in the context of their favourite TV show.
Blog comments and Looking forward...
Yes I do think that reading others stories has helped me get to know them better and I can sometimes tell who the person writing is if I've seen more than one of their posts/stories! I like my Introduction post, but would like to experiment more with different styles and Tech Tips to enhance my blog. I enjoyed making the memes and the motivator, as well as writing more humorous stories and I hope to do more of those (especially share more memes!).

*I chose this image in particular because I think I've been nervous to receive feedback from people. I'm already very critical of my own work and one of the things I noted in an earlier blog post was that I wanted to try overcoming that 'perfectionism' a lot of the articles talked about. I love this little image because I think nothing is ever really perfect and I have been trying to apply that to my writing as well (and be ok with it). It's ok to make mistakes, in fact it's probably best because you'll learn more from them, and it's important to remind myself of that too.
